This project was actually an internship project developed by 2 students from VIVES College Kortrijk who had never touched AI or the Microsoft Bot Framework prior to working at arinti. The idea behind this project all started after a conversation with an employee from a large car dealership (BMW Jorssen). The current flow of booking test drives was really inconvenient. The customer had to fill in a web form with his details. Next he had to choose his car and a desired date and time. The first problem here is that the customer can’t actually choose a time, he can only choose between morning or afternoon. The second problem is that the employees have to manually evaluate each request and check whether the car is free, if there’s an appropriate licence plate available (combination car and licence plate depends on the cilinders of the car), confirm the appointment to the customer, and so on. This is very time-consuming for the employees. So the idea was to build a chatbot that can guide the customer through this process of booking his test drive. This also meant we had to make sure this chatbot could check the available cars and number plates and manage the planning aspect. At the same time, the chatbot had to contain the intelligence to check the legal value of the booking request (100% certain user authentication, collection of the appropriate documents, …).
